Tarot

Tarot is a set of seventy-eight cards, each featuring different symbolic pictures. A standard Tarot deck is made up of 22 cards called the major arcana or trumps, and four suits of 14 cards - similar to playing cards - called the minor arcana or pip cards.

Tarot cards can be used for practical problem-solving, creative visualization, meditation, self-improvement, as a tool of understanding, and divination . Some collect Tarot cards simply for the joy of the artwork, while other delve further into research and study of the history of Tarot cards.

There are many theories on the origins of Tarot in existence - Ancient Egyptians, gypsies, Atlantis - but historical evidence points to a beginning in the courts of Northern Italy, in the mid fifteenth century.

What to Know Before a Reading

While the tarot is a fantastic tool that can help many people in many ways, far too often people have misconceptions about what tarot can do. In order to get the most of your session with any reader, it's best to keep some of these tips in mind. You'll gain more insight and find your session to be far more enjoyable!

Be ready to hear the messages that the Divine and the Spirits have for you. You may not hear what you want to hear but rather what you need to hear. Sometimes the thing that we are most focused on in a situation is the very thing that is creating our problem.

Take the time to really decide that you're ready for whatever answers and information you are given. Be prepared for the possibility that you may get an outcome in a reading that you are not hoping for.

Know that if you do not like what you see or hear in a reading you have the free will to change your course of action. Many people believe that the tarot and other forms of divination are somehow "set in stone" and that nothing can change; this is NOT TRUE! When you don't like what you get in a reading, you have the power to make changes in your life and bring about the outcome you truly desire! Taking responsibility for your actions and the things you draw into your life is the first step to reaching your goals.

Be open! When you come to a reading closed off and skeptical you create a negative energy that your reader will pick up on which can make connecting in a reading difficult. If you are unsure about something in a reading or it doesn't make sense, ask your reader to clarify the message. When you react by shrugging it off as just not making sense or not being a "true message" you create that negative vibration which will only cause the whole rest of the reading to be off as well.
